Allergist Stuart H. Agren, M.D. opened the Family Allergy Clinic in 1985 to help allergy sufferers in the greater Phoenix area find lasting symptom relief without the pain or hassle of allergy shots. As an allergy doctor, he knew that most patients don’t have time to go to the doctor’s office multiple times a week for injections. But he also knew that patients wanted a long-term solution to their allergy problems—not just the band-aid fix that pills and inhalers offer.
Dr. Agren found the perfect solution in a treatment known as sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT). Like shots, SLIT treats the underlying allergic disease—not just the symptoms—but instead of requiring patients to take their allergy serum through painful allergy shots, SLIT allows patients to take their serum as under-the-tongue allergy drops. SLIT can be taken at home because it is not associated with the same risk of anaphylactic reaction as shots.
Dr. Agren has helped rid more than 15,000 patients of miserable allergy symptoms including, hives and eczema, asthma, hay fever, chronic cough, ear and sinus infections, headaches, allergic fatigue, and more. The treatment works extremely well for kids’ allergies because it is safer than shots and easy to administer.
